ISHPEMING - Salvatore "Tudy"Valenti, 75, formerly of 305 New York St., Ishpeming, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at the Mather Nursing Center.
Born March 23, 1933, in Ishpeming, the son of Antonio and Lisa Betha (Carello) Valenti, he attended Ishpeming Public schools. After graduation, he served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Valenti graduated from barber school and took a job with Pete's Barber Shop in Ishpeming. He owned and operated "Tudy's" Coffee Shop in Ishpeming for several years and was an estimator for a local construction company before his retirement. Tudy loved to hunt and fish when he wasn't at the local casinos or traveling to Las Vegas, with gardening and playing the harmonica as other hobbies.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Julie (Tony) Marin of Ishpeming; 2 sons, Michael (Margo) Valenti and Thomas (Dawn) Valenti, both of Glendale, Ariz.; 3 sisters, Rose (Valenti) Johnson of Ishpeming, Celia Thompson of Camarillo, Calif., and Genevieve Valenti of Ishpeming; 3 brothers, Dominic (Cel) Valentiof Simi Valley, Calif., and Nick (Teresa) Valenti and Victor (Charlotte) Valenti, both of Ishpeming; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Marin, Angel Valenti, Izac Valenti, Mitchell Valenti, Michelle Valenti and Austin Valenti; and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Frank Valenti; 1 sister, Katherine Valenti Bradford; 4 brothers-in-law, Junior Townsend, Ben Johnson, Ted Thompson and Jimmy Bradford; and his in-laws, Charles and Verna Townsend.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 4, at 1:30 p.m. at the Racine Funeral Chapel with Fr. James Challancin to officiate; visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon after the service will be held at the Salvation Army of Ishpeming.
