January 24, 2004 Victor H. Cughan, 82, of Fulton, died Saturday at Lee Memorial Hospital. Born in Brewerton, he resided in Fulton most of his life. He retired in 1983 from Sealright Company, Fulton, after 35 years. Victor served in the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1949. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939. He attended State Street United Methodist Church. He was a life member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 569, Fulton. He was also a member of American Battleship Association and Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Cughan, Fulton; children: Timothy (Ann) Cughan, Deltona, Florida, and Victoria (John) Merkley, Fulton; grandchildren: Eileen and Eric Merkley; brothers: William (Alice) Cughan, Charles Cughan and Richard (Joyce) Cughan; sister, Martha Sprague; sister-in-law, Frances Cughan; nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Spring burial at Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
